About The United States Marine Corps...

The United States Marine Corps (USMC), established on November 10, 1775, is one of the most storied and respected branches of the U.S. military. Formed by a resolution of the Continental Congress, the Marine Corps began at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, where the first Marines were recruited to serve aboard naval vessels during the American Revolutionary War. Since then, the Corps has played a crucial role in nearly every major conflict in American history, often at the front lines of battle. Its reputation for toughness, rapid deployment, and unwavering commitment to mission success has earned the Marines the nickname “America’s 911 force.”

Throughout its history, the Marine Corps has demonstrated exceptional valor and adaptability. In World War I, Marines earned fame for their fierce fighting in battles like Belleau Wood, where they solidified their reputation as elite shock troops. In World War II, the island-hopping campaigns across the Pacific—from Guadalcanal to Iwo Jima—showcased the Corps’ amphibious assault capabilities and its Marines’ incredible courage under fire. The photo of Marines raising the flag on Mount Suribachi remains one of the most iconic images of American military history.

In Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East, the Marine Corps continued to evolve and excel. Whether fighting through the freezing conditions of the Chosin Reservoir, patrolling the jungles of Southeast Asia, or conducting counterinsurgency and humanitarian missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, Marines have consistently upheld their core values of honor, courage, and commitment. Their ability to adapt to modern warfare, integrate cutting-edge technology, and maintain a high state of readiness speaks to the enduring greatness of the Corps.

Beyond the battlefield, the Marine Corps has become a symbol of discipline, sacrifice, and patriotism. Marines are trained not just to fight, but to lead—with a warrior ethos that emphasizes resilience, loyalty, and service to something greater than oneself. For nearly 250 years, the Marine Corps has stood as a pillar of American strength and resolve, earning respect both at home and abroad. Semper Fidelis—“Always Faithful”—is more than a motto; it’s a way of life that defines the United States Marine Corps and the generations of men and women who have worn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.
